May I retake GMAT to improve my scores?

The students with the question of retaking GMAT often search the internet for the answer of the same but in vain. Rather than finding the clear answer, they are often put into ambivalence because of the ambiguous answers on different websites. So, should the students retake the GMAT to improve the scores or retaking doesn't really matter. Before directly answering these questions, let us first of all take a glance at GMAT
As you all know, MAT stands for Graduate Management Admission Test. This test is taken by the organization called GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) and is accepted by all of the degree providing colleges worldwide. However, nowadays most of the colleges and universities are also accepting GRE in the lieu of GMAT.GMAT is the test which basically tests your verbal strength and quantitative analysis strength. Though these two section's scores are counted in the overall GMAT score, there are other 2 sections namely: Analytical Writing Assessment and Integrated Reasoning which are separately scored; thus, they don't play role in affecting overall GMAT score. But, they aren't to be taken lightly as there are few top business colleges and universities which take into account the scores from these sections for the admission consideration. MAT has score of range between 200-800.
The choice of college plays a significant role in determining whether to retake the GMAT examination or not explains some of the students extrapolating from thier experience.If some students strive for getting admission from Ivies business college and other top business colleges then they wont be ,forsure, satisfied with the just above average score.They would consider retaking the GMAT examination.The students targetting ivies or say,more competative colleges,nevertheless, shuld also be aware of teh fact that GMAT is the only one part of their application;these top universitites and colleges takes into account other many aspects of students personal life and carrerr.So,putting it as simply as that even top scores on GMAT donot gurantee the admissions into such universities and colleges.Similarly,if the students aspire to get accetance form above average business colleges then they will be happy with average score and will focus on to strengthen thier other credentials.The students must look at the average score of thier dream college and focus in getting within the +/- 50 average range.If they are behind by +/- 50-60 score range from the average score of thier dream college then the students are advised the retake the GMAT.Different statics have shown that the most of the students taking the GMAT second time have improved their scores by few points.However,the student must not be sweeped by notion of increasing in GMAT score the sceond time he/she takes it because there are some staticts showing good percentage of the students who decreased their score at the second attempt.So,the students should take the college factor into consideration when detrminig the retaking of GMAT for there is no gurantee in getting imporved scores in second attempt.
Despite of working hard ,som students are reported to be failed in acheiving high scores.These sitatuions occurs when the studnets fall for wrong study palns by different so called GMAT preparations agencies or some fallacious websites.So,the choice of test preparation materials plays a tremendous role in determining one's GMAT scores.One can practice from offical GMAT preparation book,KAPLAN GMAT book,Barrons GMAT preparation books among other high brands.There was once a report in the magzine that a boy ,who was very much interested in math,focused so much on quantitave test section og GMAT that he messed with other section jeopardizing his overall SAT scores.If this sounds like you,retaking test is strongly recconmended.All teh students must distribute thier time evenly for all sections during the practise seasions and also in the esaminationa time.If procastination was your problem in getting good score,then noting the resoulution of practicing as hard as possible can be good reason to retake test if your are sure to stick to the resolutyion.It is not the unknown fact that students have to take teh GMAT in fixed time frame.If the student has failed to pace himself up along with the time then it is very suggestable for the students to retake the GMAT by taking time factor into strong consideration.If you were sick or were suffering form emotional outbrust then it is highly advisible for you to retake the GMAT as it is teh examinationa which deamasds the peace and tranquil mind for getting good scores.If the students have enough gap between thier application date and their GMAT score date,then the students can retake the test if they want high scores.
There might be some students who might have really worked hard,invested on teh best test preparation available in the market,paced themselves with the time and tranquil mind in the test date but failed to achieve high scores.Such studenteds should not low regard themself as,already mentioned above, the scores of GMAT examinataion are not only the sole criteria for getting admissions from most of the colleges.Most of the colleges behold at students with all round capacity;to find them,colleges follow holistic application process in which single factor can or can't affect the admission decision.So, rather than retaking GMAT focus on strngthingng your other credentials like your job experiences,extra ciricular activities amongst others.
So, the students who have realised thier errors and have determination to efface them are encouraged to retake the GMAT while the students already having the scores in range 700 should try to improve thier other credentials.So,the students should decide themselves whtere to retake the test or not with above mentioned refrences.It is always to settle down for a good score when you believe you are capable of giving the best then what you just achieved.
