The Windows 7, Configuring exam tests the skills and knowledge of the examinee related to the installation, deployment, configuration and update of the Windows 7. The examinee must be able to perform clean installation of the Windows 7 as well as upgrade the existing version of Windows to Windows 7. Another portion of the exam would be to test the examinee’s ability to create and manage system image. Besides these they should also know how to configure devices, Internet Explorer (IE), IPv6 settings, IPv4 settings, firewall, network settings, folder access, shared resources, authorization and authentication, remote connections, DirectAccess, backup, update, recovery options and so on. So, basically in this exam the examinee will be tested for his/her skills and knowledge related to configuration of hardware and applications, backup, access to resources, recovery options, network connectivity and so on.

The Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator (686) tests examinee’s skills and knowledge related to planning and designing of components related to Windows 7. In this exam they will have to think as an administrator who needs to manage the components related to Windows 7. They will be asked question related to client configuration, standard image, client life cycle, client configuration issues, application packages and client deployment. Here is a list of things that they must know for this certification exam.

They must know how to configure clients in Windows 7. There are a number of settings that must be fixed before client is configured. They must know what kind of settings must be placed for the appropriate configuration of client. Besides that they must also know about the security standard that will protect the client from unwanted intrusions.

The examinee must know about the creation, designing and update of disk and system images. Based on the requirement they must be able to design as well as create a custom image based on the operating system and enterprise applications. This exam will also test the examinees capability of performing optimizations as well as image update strategy.

As a desktop administrator, the examinee will have to know how to plan and manage the client life cycle. This certification exam tests this capability of the examinee. To get good marks in this portion, they should focus on physical hardware, software updates, client licensing and virtualization hardware.

The examinees will also have to prepare for questions related to application packages. They should understand the designing process of delivery strategy and application compatibility.

Last but not the least the examinees will also have focus on the knowledge related to deployment of client. He/she will have to develop skills and knowledge related to analyzing of the environment and choosing the right kind of the deployment method; and designing user state migration , zero- touch deployment and lite- touch deployment strategies.
